Evaluation of the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP) at Secondary Schools, Uganda

Abstract

STEP is an action-oriented and evidence-based entrepreneurship training scheme for youths and young adults. STEP develops young people’s skills, knowledge and confidence to pursue an entrepreneurial career by starting their own businesses. In 2019, the 2018 secondary school project was repeated. Here, two cohorts of student teachers were successfully trained in a modified version of the STEP Training. This modified version contained an extra session in which students were trained to teach the STEP content to secondary school pupils. The training at the secondary schools took six weeks, and demonstrated once again that the STEP Training can be adapted to younger pupils as well.
