E-commerce training and support for Tunisian small and medium enterprises (SMEs)

This RIE is being conducted as part of the GIZ export promotion project PEMA II that cooperates with the Tunisian export promotion agency (CEPEX) to promote small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) exports to Sub-Saharan Africa. The RIE assesses an intervention amongst Tunisian SMEs that aims to improve their ability and willingness to export by boosting e-commerce readiness. The activity teaches SMEs how to use e-commerce platforms and other digital tools effectively (social media etc.), market products to foreign clients (especially in Sub-Saharan Africa) and provides small improvements to the companies’ online presence (web page, online marketplace, marketing etc.). The evaluation is designed and conducted in close collaboration with researchers from the Technical University Berlin and the Mediterranean School of Business (MSB) in Tunis. The initial population for this RIE is 120 beneficiary companies with a further 120 companies constituting the control group.
